Roma
Our Three Day Rome Agenda:
|
From Sorrento we took the ferry to Naples then caught the fast train to Rome! We splurged on our hotel for the last 3 nights in Rome! We stayed at RS Advice: Hotel Nazionale near the pedestrian-friendly heart of ancient Rome near the Pantheon. RS describes the area as a "Winding, narrow lanes filled with foot traffic and lined with boutique shops and tiny trattorias… this is village Rome at its best". Every evening it was a wonderful adventure finding back street trattorias and then ending our evening with a glass of wine under the floodlit magic of the Pantheon! Perfect Roma evening.

Eating Italy Food Tour
When in Rome eat pizza! Delicious, mouth-watering thin crust pizzas and that was just the appetizer! We took RS Advice: Eating Italy Tour. The tour was the Twilight Trasteveve Tour. We had an amazing evening of food and wine in the quiet neighborhood of Trastevere. We were treated to 10 unforgettable food and wine tastings at some of the city’s most loved and historic places. We felt like a local, a feeling we won’t forget. Fresh Advice: Take a food tour!

Colosseum
We took RS Advice and selected Walks of Italy, Colosseum Underground Arena and Forum tour. Their tours took you to places most tours do not get to see. We went to the Colosseum's hypogeum, where gladiators waited to fight. We walked on the arena stage where fighting took place. We also went up to the third level, where we had great views of not only the Colosseum's interior, but of the Forum and Rome itself. Fresh Advice: Enjoy the tour! There is no waiting in line!

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.

We made our way through the city in style! Actually on foot. Somehow we survived crossing the streets of Rome. Just look the driver in the eye, do not hesitate, and GO!
Driving Tour of Rome
For our last day in Rome we took the Walks of Italy Driving Tour. Our driver took us on a half day tour of Roma. Their website describe it as, "Explore those hidden sites locals reserve for visiting friends, discovering secret histories and traditions you’d never hear otherwise (like the daily canon fire!) We’ll take you on a whirlwind adventure through Rome and further afield for a half-day tour you won’t forget." We saw the Appian Way, mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, Park of the Aqueducts, the Baths of Caracalla, Aurelian Wall, The Aventine Keyhole, and Janiculum Hill. We enjoyed exploring parts of Rome few people see! Fresh Advice: Take a driving tour!
An evening in Roma…
